Helena Dahlgren in Poland

 

Hi there!

 

It's been 2 months since Helena Dahlgren, known as the author of the books from the Star Stable universe, visited Poland to meet her Polish readers and fans of the game. Only now do I find time to sit in front of my laptop and write about this amazing time - because even though it's so late, it's still worth to look back at precious memories!

You may be surprised, but June was a really busy month for me. When things slowly get looser in schools, college students are just starting to fight for survival before the exam season. So I thought there is definitely no better time to go on a journey in all this chaos and travel over a thousand kilometers by train in just three days. After all, what can go wrong?

Let me tell you that it was definitely worth it, because being at both meetings I had a great pre-vacay adventure with my friend and additionally I could meet a great writer and a nice person that Helena Dahlgren is!

The meetings were organized by the Znak publishing house, that invited Helena to Poland so the fans of Star Stable and her books could meet her, take a photo together, get an autograph or just have a short chat. In addition, the events coincided with the premiere of Helena's new book in Poland, the first part of the new trilogy about the Soul Riders: 'Shadows over Jorvik'. To overcome the language barrier, the meetings were translated live by Magdalena Kilian-Antoine.

During those two days, Helena visited two cities - Warsaw and Poznań. The meetings took place on June 16 and 17, 2022.

In Warsaw, the meeting took place in a small, cozy cafe called Big Book Cafe, where first there was a author meeting with Helena, and then it was time for photos and autographs. The interview with the writer was all recorded live, so you can still watch it on Facebook!

Helena and I noticed that we both have matching, purple nail polish!

 

The meeting in Poznań was much more bigger just because it took place at such a large event as Pyrkon (biggest fantasy and science fiction event in Poland and one of the biggest in Europe). A simmilar author meeting with Helena was also held here, which was preceded by the time for autographs and photos. On that day, there was also a quiz about the books written by Helena, which was attended by a lot of people! Unfortunately, not everyone could voice their answers, but in the whole group of players and readers, huge Star Stable fans emerged who were able to correctly answer every question.

I can also boast that I was the author of the quiz. I hope everyone liked it!

 

 

 

 

Both in Warsaw and Poznań, I had a chance to chat with Helena on various topics and I liked her very much. In the autograph for me, she told me to say hi from her to Salem, my cat ♥

 

When you got an autograph, you could also get Star Stable themed bookmarks and stickers.

Every Star Stable event that is organized in Poland is very special to me. Growing up with this game and watching it grow out of its baby steps into a universe so beloved by many players that events take place even in my country is amazing. It's also a great opportunity to see in person the people we meet online in Jorvik every day and build strong friendships with. May there be more and more such chances to meet each other!
