How to get the Nightwing Raven

calendar_month 31 October 2021

Boo! ♥
I hope you're using this magical time to have some fun with the one and only Galloper Thompson. I don't know how about you, but my favorite Halloween activity is the Haunted Trail Ride. This year there is a little extra surprise waiting for us on the route and after completing a ritual, we might get to meet a new friend...

Bring shiny trinkets and stones
Find ye pockets full of bones
Take to the altar
Be brave, don't falter
Raise a friend fit for the crones!

This is a small recipe on how to ressurect (yes, that's right, ressurect!) our new friend, a crow called Nightwing.
Let's start with the basics. Where to find the altar worthy enough to hold through such a powerful spell? Obviously, it appears only when we start the Haunted Trail Ride from the Galloper's Keep. The exact location is X: 66 Y: 119, it's above the Hussar's Drop.

Things needed to complete the ritual:
soul shard x50
unbroken bone x80
raven feather x20
witch eye garnet

We can collect the soul shards in various Halloween activities that can be found in the Galloper's Keep (such as pumpkin hunt, pumpkin castle race, Scarecrow Hill race or the race through Thompson's mempories).

Both the unbroken bone and raven feather can be found in different places around the trail. Almost at the end of the ride, by the campsite, there's a crow called Poe who lets us trade other objects found on the way for the unbroken bones, because that's the ingredient we need the most of. On the trail we can also find objects that are not tradeable for anything (and won't be used for the spell) and rare objects that can be traded for either 10, 20 or 25 unbroken bones. The feathers can be traded too, for just one bone each.

The last ingredient, that is witch eye garnet, is the easiest to find. Surprisingly it's not located on the trail ride, but in a place that is historical, connected to Jon Jarl and where we said our goodbies to someone close to us. Of course it's Doyle's Abbey that we're talking about. The crystal can be found just by the chapel's ruins.

X: 244 Y: 234

That's all you need. After gathering all the ingredients, all you need to do is get to the altar and go through with your spell to finally meet your new, lovely companion who is waiting for you impatiently!
